Kod glagola 'dokučiti' dogodila se semantička promjena motivirana upravo navedenom konceptualnom metaforom. Danas u standardnom hrvatskom jeziku glagol dokučiti ima samo metaforičko značenje 'shvatiti', dok je u dijalektima njegovo nemetaforičko značenje 'dohvatiti' još uvijek 'živo'.
